Colombian Geography (wk 2a)

This time we will talk about the geography in Colombia, and what it means to a country the shape of its land. It actually means the place where the history of all its inhabitants happened. But its shape can constantly change, because of the possible economic problems or wars. The shape of a country is not made because of the wanted shape of its citizens, but because of the natural facts. The quantity of land is due to the past generations that kept our country in that way. The past governments and mayors that took care of the country in different ways, are in many ways responsible of how the country is right now.

As it was mentioned before, the Colombian geography means the place where the history of its citizens happened, as mentioned in the book “Colombia, imágenes de su diversidad”: “El mapa de un país es la casa que resguarda la historia de quienes la han habitado desde siempre”(pg 13). The Colombian shape changed, and it is not always for the same reason. For example Panama, which was a Colombian state which was part of the map of Colombia. The territory was bigger and had a different shape than now a days, because later the city became a country.

In conclusion, the shape and quantity of land doesn`t represent its citizens, but the place where they live and have lived, and also where their history develops. We have also seen that there are different shapes and amounts of land in our country depending also on the year and situation we and our country are in. Every person that enters our government becomes someone else to study in our history books. And it is depending on what and how they organize things in our country that they become more or less important.
