The Natives Before The Europeans (wk 3a)

In this essay we will be talking about how the indigenious were before the Spanishmen arrived to America. They didn`t understand the culture of our ancesters, and destroyed it. We can complement this observation by reading it in the book: ..."Se ha podido conocer la fuerza creativa del mundo de los indios antes de que arribaran los europeos a resquebrejar la magia, los mitos, las fantasias, y el progreso del material fundado por sociedades basadas en relaciones simetricas" (pg 24). Even though we can still remember so much about this because of the memories left by the preculumbians, which were plenty.

As to the lands, we learn that the natives protected it very much, and only the members of the tribe were able to live or step on it. The different tribes also exchanged materials because they were all rich in different materials, so this system was very useful for them. The spanishmen mainly arrived to Colombia for the gold, which came from rivers and falls, and they asked it for exchange to the preculumbians, who had the gold in figures and symbols, but the spanishmen turned it into golden bars.

We can conclude that the spanishmen have taken a lot of memories of the indians to us, but we can still remember plenty of things because of the diaries they wrote and the situations they passed and shared with us. Unfortunately, these tribes no longer exist, and the majority of the gold was taken by the europeans. What was left is what we can now see in bogota in the "Museo del Oro".
